Sri Lanka Achieves Global Excellence at SEAMO X 2026
January 2026 will be remembered as a landmark moment in Sri Lanka’s Olympiad history, as our young mathematicians delivered an exceptional performance at the SEAMO X 2026 Global Round, held in Bali, Indonesia.
SEAMO X is one of the most competitive and prestigious international mathematics Olympiads, attracting top-performing students from across Asia and beyond. Competing at this level requires not only mathematical knowledge, but also advanced logical reasoning, strategic thinking, and academic discipline.
A Remarkable National Performance
Sri Lanka participated at SEAMO X 2026 with a total of 82 students, representing leading international and government schools across Colombo and its suburban regions. These students competed against some of the strongest young mathematical minds globally, and the results were truly outstanding.
Out of the 82 participants:
61% of Sri Lankan students won international medals- 8 students achieved Gold Medals (an extraordinary accomplishment at global level)
- 21 students secured Silver Medals
- 21 students earned Bronze Medals

The achievement of 8 Gold Medals, many with top global rankings, stands as one of the strongest performances by Sri Lanka at any international Olympiad to date. Gold medals at SEAMO X are awarded only to students who demonstrate exceptional problem-solving ability under rigorous international standards.
